  1. Also Will Ospray was busy over in NJPW becoming the first ever Brit to win the Best of the Super Juniors and then challenging KUSIHDA for the IWGP Jr. Title...
  2. Batman films universally acclaimed by critics - Batman and Batman Returns and The Dark Knight. 3 films not five. Mixed reviews and box office performance for Begins and Forever, great box office but mixed reviews for Dark Knight Rises and terrible reviews and box office for Batman and Robin. Everybody seems to think that the Nolan Batman films where universally loved and where the greatest things since sliced bread. They weren't in both instances - Begins was a good origin story, Dark Knight was the masterpiece and Rises was the phoning it in, calling it a day, plot hole ridden bloated third film that all trilogies usually end up with. Also when I was listing films, I was listing specifically DC comic book films and trying to point out that the critics have never liked them that much in comparison to Marvel films. X-Men 1 was also not universally loved by critics either, X-2: X-Men United was although I loved both of them and like everyone, disliked X-3.
  3. Radio X had a 90's day yesterday and it was just pure Britpop, from 1994-1997 and it had everything. Reef, Ocean Color Scene, Mansun, Verve as well as the big three of Pulp, Oasis and Blur. Made we smile as me and Becki where out on a drive. Fond childhood memories as I took my first steps into having my own musical taste and not just my mum and dad's record collections.
  4. I know they cut a lot of it out and I know they wanted to take it a different direction, like I said by the end of the film I took my comic purest hat off and enjoyed their interaction together. They kept the main point the same as it should be in all things Harley and Joker. He was at Arkham, she was his therapist, she feel down the rabbit hole in love with him and run from there.
  5. I watched it, I by and large enjoyed it. It's a DC comic book film, it is not supposed to be an artistic masterpiece. There has been three good Batman films and two good Superman Movies ever according to the critics, what was going to be different here? It's a comic book film, they always crap on them by and large. Leto delivered as Joker, Robbie delivered as Harley, Will Smith actually gave a damn for the first time in a while and put in a decent shift. Sure it wasn't perfect, sure the editing was a bit all over the place and sure the plot was under cooked and yes DC are rushing to catch up with Marvel which is meaning some errors are being made but it did what it was supposed to do - be a fun, dumb summer blockbuster of a comic book movie and keep people interested in the DC universe as a whole. My only issue is that they made it seem like Joker gives a damn about Harley which he doesn't in a traditional sense. He doesn't want anyone else to have her, she's his toy but he wouldn't go to such great lengths to get her out of prison, he is actually quite abusive BUT at the same time it wouldn't fit with the theme of the movie, of where DC want to take their universe now after the black lash against brooding Sup's and brooding Bat's and to be fair their chemistry was excellent together and made me, despite my attachment to the cartoon and comic history, want to see them together against the Bat in the future. People just need to take these films less seriously and expect less going in. Every comic book film doesn't have to The Dark Knight, Captain America: The Winter Solider or Guardians of the Galaxy to be enjoyed. To expect every DC film or Marvel one for that matter to hit that bar constantly just sets you up for a fall before you sit down and watch.
  6. He has wrestled pretty much all of his career in Ring of Honor but has now confirmed he has left the promotion. Given the reception he got from Full Sail, the actions of HHH after the match and the fact there is going to be a Cruiserweight Division on Raw... Well I expect we'll see Cedric working Monday nights soon enough.
  7. Paul Pulp - Babies: This is probably my second favorite Pulp track after Underwear and it just highlights Cocker's ability as a songwriter and the twisted story telling that makes for great music. It's just a shame this version is cut short because the ending of the studio version builds into a wonderful climax both musically and storywise. Solid rendition up to then though but the lack of a final part knocks it down for me. 7/10 Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca: First off... how big a band do you need? Great actual stage performance and show with the dancers but his voice seems to be struggling a little bit live but then no one said Ricky Martin was a fantastic singer did they? It's a good pop song fair enough and it brings back memories of my childhood and 1999 when I was in year nine at school but whilst I don't actively hate the song, I don't really like it either... it's just there. 5/10 King Bruce Springsteen - The Ghost of Tom Joad: Modern American Folk, magnificently done, political commentary, story telling and a guitar duel between the Boss and Morello before Morello goes sh*tless at the end. Just bloody amazing, what you want from Rock 'n' Roll really. Interesting fact, Morello recorded this with Rage Against the Machine in 1997 but I prefer Springsteen's and this version more. 10/10 - That guitar solo tho! Guns n Roses - November Rain: I liked the faithful playing of the outro to Layla as an intro, but the one thing that annoyed me about Velvet Revolver, Snake Pit and GnR gigs is that because this lot can't stay in a band for too long before breaking up, they never record enough material to fill a headlining slot and always have to resort to covers to pad it out. Still, was wonderfully done like most things Slash does on a guitar. Also damn King, you love yourself some long rock songs! Axl's voice has seen better days but then again drugs and alcohol you know... but Slash and the rest are pretty damn on point and they nail the climax of the song, again with Slash just making that guitar cry. It's not as good as it used to be but its still pretty damn good... 8/10 Laffy The Osmonds - Crazy Horses: Sorry Laffy, the original is better for me. The arrangement just makes it a bit cheesy where as the original had that little bit of edginess, certainly for the time and the band that produced it. It's still a classic song in the history of American music but the band members age and the subsequent need to then faff with the tune has spoiled this version a little for me. 4/10. If it was the original studio version it would have been around 7/10 for me. Celine Dion & Josh Groban - The Prayer: Ok so they are both brilliant live vocal artists. They are, for all the crap flung at both Groban and Dion they have fantastic voices and can smoke most people performance wise live... and Groban managed to spend a year and a bit in a relationship with Kat Dennings as well, so kudos dude. But for all their talent, I just don't like the type of music. It's well done, its a lovely musical arrangement, their voices by and large compliment each other... I just don't give a damn about the song. As a result it's just there for me again... I don't hate it I just can't bring myself to like it. 5/10
  8. Kota Ibushi in the Cruiserweight division would be immense. Imagine they let him have a 15-20 minute match against Tozawa with the handcuffs off and let them go balls to the wall. The buzz that would generate for the WWE.... Or just let him and Nakamura have a match as the one they had in NJPW over the Intercontinental title a few years back was brilliant.
  9. Well here we go, first pick is Halestorm, from 2010 playing a Familiar Taste of Poison live on Jimmy Fallon... I picked this because a) Lzzy gives a brilliant vocal performance b) Arejay is as usual magnificent on the drums and c) how weird is to see Selena Gomez watching Halestorm and then meeting them at the end? What? Second choice is Corey Taylor, performing the Slipknot song Snuff by himself acoustically at the House of Blues in 2015... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJK4ohsbs5o He has made this a staple of his live sets when touring solo and it is the song he always plays in memory of the sadly now passed Paul Gray of Slipknot. Everytime I have seen him play this song, whenever he gets to the second verse, it just gets him and the emotion just pours through a still clearly raw wound. I just find it beautiful and chilling personally having been a fan of the song in its original incarnation as well.
  10. I'll try and bang mine up tomorrow.
  11. Oh yeah, Jessica Jones kicks so much ass as a show. So much ass. But yeah, its a bit flabby in places and could do with a trim down, much like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. really.
  12. I'd agree with BRM and say that it can be hit and miss sometimes so overall it is weaker then Flash, Arrow, Lucifer and Agent Carter. It is on par probably with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Legends of Tomorrow. Marvel's Agent Carter and Lucifer are so under rated it's not even fair.
  13. I'm in as well. Two live songs, awesome.
  14. Picked up Shadows of Mordor: Game of the Year Edition for £15 on the X-Box One. It's like Red Dead, Assassins Creed and the Rocksteady Batman games all in one package that is set in Middle Earth. God damn I'm hooked.
  15. I like the way he recovered it though into almost a 450 splash tope, that was some impressive adjustment in mid air. Petiot also looked excellent, you're right - he looked like an old school bruiser of a cruiserweight, like a French Takaiwa if that makes sense.
  16. Anybody see Finn v Shinsuke on NXT this week? What where people's thoughts if they did? They where hyping it as a dream match and hoping that it would catch people imagination like Sami v Cesaro 2/3 falls, Bailey v Sasha and Sami v Shinsuke but I was left a little bit short of that personally. I don't know, it might have been the fact that Shinsuke's selling wasn't on point and that hurt my view of the match.
  17. Watched the first episode last night, some of the matches where a bit short but all of them where fun. Ibushi was over and the match showed him whilst making his opponent looking like a boss as well. That Sit Down Last Ride still looks brutal, mainly because he jumped as well. Dorada's Samoan Driver was tight as well, please take note Dana Brooke. Really looking forward to Cedric v Kota, damn it's going to be a good match if they give it the right time.
  18. Dead Island: The Definite Edition. Basically its a remaster of both DI and DI: Riptide for the X-Box One. I never got round to playing either the first time round on the 360 so I am actually enjoying this and the fact I got two full games for £20. I have the last stage of Quantum Break to finish off as well, Battleborn to finish (up to the last level), DLC to play on Fallout 4, the last episode of Walking Dead: Michonne, the last part of Tales of the Borderlands and I have given up on Homefront: The Revolution. There is a good idea in there, its just wrapped in a very broken game.
  19. He was King of the Riverlands because of his family line as well being intertwined with House Tully. Littlefinger is not related to Jon Snow as his marriage was into the Tully Bloodline where as Jon is only half Stark, no Tully blood at all. Plus he declared his allegiance to House Stark under the pretense that Sansa as the eldest and (to everyone else bar us) only know surviving legitimate Stark. He didn't actually declare his support for Jon being King in the North, at the point he just looked at Sansa with eyes that just screamed I told you so.
  20. Dear youtube video makers, who sat and wondered prior to this episode just who would die in the finale I have your answer... NEARLY HALF THE CAST! Amazing climax to the season. I actually enjoyed this episode more then number 9 which given the usual pattern of GOT seasons is rare. I also may have punched the air when Walder got ruined by Arya. Magnificent revenge, magnificent. Also... L+R=J is finally confirmed!
  21. Zack Sabre v Tozawa final, I'm calling it right now!
  22. See I had a look at Overwatch and I dismissed it because it is people versus people in multiplayer matches and that is supposed to be the storymode. There is no true single player in the game at all and I hate that. It is the reason I disliked Titanfall so much, I couldn't just have a one person experience. If games like Red Dead, GTA V, Borderlands and others can give you both a single player and a multiplayer games with depth then why can't others. I expect better from Blizzard, I really do. Battleborn feels like it wants to be Destiny and Borderlands at the same time and a lot of the humor in the game is very Borderlands like but because it is not in that universe it kinda comes across weird. Except when I meant a dude called Geoff who believes he is a spider. he was damn funny.
  23. This episode highlighted how much I've have missed Bronn just from his little cameo of riding with Jaime to Riverrun... "It's a good job we're friends or right now we'd be f**king you right in your arses" Oh how I've missed him. Ian McShane was quality as well, he is quite possibly the coolest priest there has ever been.
  24. It'll be done before you hit 20 hours, it is not that long a game, it is basically a reskin of Far Cry 4 or so it felt when I cleared it after Christmas. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun little blast but it was just a small blast. Been playing Battleborn and JESUS the missions are long. Not quite sure how I feel about it yet, part of me is just wishing they just made Borderlands 3.
