I'd read a few weeks ago that the push for signing guys like Joe was two fold, the first was to give some credibility to NXT and the second was to give the roster more depth for touring so that you don't have to send every guy out on every tour and work them into the ground. The latter makes most sense, their in the middle of a massive law suit based a lot on injuries sustained for repeated injuries caused by the hectic schedule. The only way to combat that is either less touring or more wrestlers so people get recuperation time. Vince isn't about to lose money by not being places even if that means paying guys they weren't interested in before to be "there" if needed.
Hmm, makes the possibility that it's all kayfabe a bit more plausible. I can;t see someone ducking out of TNA going to GFW right off the bat if it wasn't to give GFW more guys to team with that are known to the TNA audience. Given that ROH seems to be working ok with the E these days I'd have thought guys would be jumping to them in the hope that as long as they don;t sign long term merch deal then an NXT call could be coming their way if they can generate some heat.
