The original question was 'most important to you'
For me, it was Hogan as WM VII was the first WWE event I watched which caused my love affair with Wrestling to begin. Yes, there are wrestlers who place above Hogan on my personal list now, but Hogan is the most important to me because it was HIS main event that made me want to continue watching WWE.
Picture this.... I was 10, had no real idea about who the characters were and their history or the story lines, but then you had Hogan (America) vs Slaughter (Iraq), and when you were 10 in 1991 (in the UK), America was good and Iraq was bad, because America had Disneyland and Hulk Hogan and Iraq had Sadam Hussein and Sgt. Slaughter. (Yes, I know NOW that Slaughter was merely sympathising with Iraq on account of the storyline, but I was 10 at the time dammit).
Cue an epic battle, Hogan is hit with a chair, busted open, put in the camel clutch and then has the Iraqi flag draped over him and attempted to be pinned, then the Hulk up occurs and I'm going batpoop crazy, jumping up and down as this bloodied beefcake starts beating on this evil Sergeant. Boot, leg drop, posing with flag, hand cupped to the ear, real american playing in the background...Epic.
So yeh, Hogan is the most important to me.
I'm not even going down the 'but what if I had seen someone else first' route, because I had seen some WCW and British guys (Big Daddy, Bulldog Blacky, Giant Haystacks etc...) but they don't even come close to the effect Hogan had on me.
If we're going down the 'most important to the wrestling business' route, then Hogan again. No question about it.
Bazinga.
