  1. Exactly your problem. Sherdog, and most MMA forums, are home to some of the most incredible smarking this side of the ROH forums. I picked Brock over Herring, Mir, and ESPECIALLY Couture. Herring because he's mediocre, Mir because Brock's wrestling > his BJJ, and Couture because everything he's good at would be eliminated by Brock's skillset. Fedor, though? Anyone who says Fedor will "kill him" has probably only seen a Fedor highlight or the Sylvia fight. He's a slow starter, and many an opponent look good and competitive against him as a fight progresses. It's when he adapts and decides on a method of attack when people find themselves in problems. Brock is good enough to wrestle ANYONE down for 5 rounds, but against Fedor, with the multitude of ways he can defeat you, and his crazy killer instinct, I think he puts Brock away in 3. The guy is just too good. That being said, before Brock's emergence, I'd always felt Barnett had the best chance at beating Fedor. We'll see how that goes down.
  2. Ref hadn't stopped the fight yet, and he did nothing illegal, so no foul.
  3. I was a huge fan of Brock's heel turn and shoot promo. Still my biggest problem with the UFC (and western MMA in general) are the f*cking bros that litter the audience. The man is on top, dominating, ruining his opponents face, and there's "STAND THEM UP" chants. If fans were like this seven years ago Matt Hughes would've been cast off to the wayside.
  4. Lakers win aaannnnnnnnddddd Hedo declares for free agency the same night. Double Loss
  5. The fist three books are short...and? Starting with the beginning of the fourth the books take on a new element and stop being fun, barely sequitor installments of a boy away at school. As Harry became more and more intertwined with the wizarding world, there was more and more going on. It was like someone actually growing up. Becoming more one with society and generally doing more things. I don't see where taking massive chunks out of the last four books to make them size of the first three does anything other than diminishing them. It'd be making them shorter for the sake of making them shorter. The part you pointed out specifically. I mean, really? They spend months trying to track down Horocruxes which they have very little clue as to their locations, and it's there just to pad the book out? Everything about that section, including Ron's eventual melt down, is to stress how fruitless and mind-numbing their efforts are. Should that have been cut away to make the Ron sub-plot COMPLETELY pointless and the struggle of this point in his life unmentioned just for the sake of shortening the book? There's considerably more taking place around him as Voldermort's return takes shape and occasionally occurs, and the increased length of the books reflect this. The only time there wasn't a lot going on, the middle of book 7, there's a rather excellent reason for it.
  6. Huh? The books got properly epic as the series progressed. I don't see where any reigning in is needed at all. The only weak spot in the series is Harry's atypical teenage emotional melodrama being compressed to one book, making him quite possibly the single most annoying main character ever in Order of the Phoenix, especially the beginning. Only time I ever put a HP book down and stepped away for a few days. The closing stages being as epic as they were is its only saving grace. It was always going to make for the worst movie. As for the movies, my only gripe is changing things that don't need changing. Little things, that is left as they were, would only be a positive to the people that read the books, and not mean anything at all to the people who haven't.
  7. Isn't kinda obvious he's going heel? There's no other move. I thought it was easy to see Punk was given a "go out there and act heelish" speech, as the looks on his face and clapping whilst getting boo'd were perfect. There was no better way to jumpstart a heel Punk, ESPECIALLY if he gets to go all straight edge on Jeff. His win/loss tally since 2005 is probably more epic than even Cena's.
  8. Summer of Punk Vol. 3 Jeff's reign at the top was shorter than leperchauns. Awesome
  9. pfft The days of the 90's Knick dynasty will soon return. Every franchise goes through their slumps. and I really don't think Orlando has any sort of cap space for Bosh who will probably not settle for anything less than a maximum deal, and with Nelson/Lewis/Hedo/Howard, the Magic have a lot of money tied up. Namely that 126mil Lewis is getting. The shoe company bonuses will be enough to get LeBron or Bosh into NY. How do you feel about Nelson trying to make a return for the finals?
  10. I don't see how you can say that when the Boston Celtics exist. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett on the same team? Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobli? Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, and Ron Artest? Carmelo Anthony, Chauncy Billups, and Kenyon Martin? Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol? It's no less possible. Yeah, I agree with everything. I don't think Cleveland can get him that extra player, and I fully expect (hope) him to be in a Knicks jersey in 2010. LeBron, David Lee, Wilson Chandler, and Nate Robinson coming off of the bench (if we can keep him) = finals appearance at the least. If things REALLY go our way, LeBron and Bosh both, but that's a sure-fire-championship-wet-pipe-dream
  11. LeBron took that squad (where is #2 is a combo guard that if his shot isn't falling he's useless) to only ONE home loss all season and the best record in the NBA. If that isn't making your team better, then no one, ever, has made their team better. MJ never did more with a lesser team. Every title he won he had one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players of all time in Pippen right there on the wing. And he had a ferocious conglomerate of role players. BJ Armstrong, Horace Grant, Luc Longely, Tony Kukoc, Steve Kerr, Dennis Rodman, and Ron Harper ALL did their given jobs better than LeBrons teammates do. They have no defensive presence in the post and Z kills them with his jumpshot infatuation. Unlike Jordan, LeBron doesn't have another player on his team that can guard elite wing players. He doesn't have a pure point guard, and he doesn't have anyone on that team that can take over in critical moments if the night isn't his night. Michael is my favorite athlete of all time, and I have an unwarranted hatred for everything related to the state of Ohio ,but he was JUST as unsuccessful before he got a better team around him. No one can do it alone.
  12. You know that's not true, Belty. The things he's done in the playoffs for the past 3 years have been nothing short of incredible. All LeBron James is proving is that one man, no matter his greatness, cannot win a title by himself. There is no one on the Cavs aside from LeBron better than Hedo, or Lewis, or Alston (team would be even better if Nelson was healthy), or anyone as good coming off the bench as Pietrus. The Magic won because they are clearly the better team. LeBron James didn't lose this series. The things he's done have been incredible, and I'd find it impossible to place MJ on a higher level at this point in their careers. MJ had Boston and Detroit to contend with, but LeBron DID drag his squad of no-names to the finals at age 22. You cannot discount the guy. Doing what he's doing at 24. As for the Magic, I think it's odd to see them discounted so much against the Lakers. Sure the Lakers are much deeper team than Cleveland, and Kobe is Kobe, but Hedo and Lewis are being continually underrated, despite their performances. The Lakers are built to beat them, though. They're not as deep with shooters, but between Odom, Gasol, and Bynum they have good defensive and offensive presence in the paint. I think the Lakers win, but every game will be close, and wouldn't be shocked at all of Orlando won.
  13. What exactly are you trying to say here? Hatton was an undefeated fighter and linear kingpin of what, for the past decade, has been the most consistently competitive and high caliber division in boxing. I was never high on him, and I hated the hyperbole he was treated with. That being said, he was undefeated, he was the #1 in his division, and he was fighting the Pound-four-Pound king in his fight against Mayweather. If he would've won, he would clearly be the best in the world. That's the point of any pre-fight hype. Who is what if they win. The winner of either of Ricky Hatton's big fights would be fairly deemed the best in the world, and I think that speaks volumes. Whether or not he's a B+ fighter who never deserved even that consideration is aside from the point. In boxing, if you're undefeated (especially in over 40 fights) and you beat the man to become the man, you'll garner respect and attention. ---------------- Now playing: Clipse - Kinda Like A Big Deal Feat. 14. Both are big punchers with cheddar chins. Wlad is rivaled only by Lennox in terms of big-man boxing skills, but has responded very poorly to pressure in the past. I would say if Haye can't get the job done early Wlad will knock him out, but Wlad may very well punch himself out like what he did against Purity and Brewster and be finished after a second onslaught. If the fight goes the distance, I'll be more than shocked. Neither of them have the chin to withstand the other for 12 rounds.
  15. I forgot Cotto was with Top Rank, too. It'll be interesting, then. Between them, Arum and Oscar have a vice-grip on the sport from 140-154 with Cotto, Mosley, Floyd, Marquez, and Manny. The moves between them might prevent the match we all want to see from happening.
  16. I think Cotto is the more realistic fight, as, despite the fact that Floyd has fought a who's who of rivals, he's always made smart decisions when it came to opponents. There was talk of a Mosley fight, and that all disappeared the second Shane showed he wasn't washed up. Cotto or Shane v Pac is probably more likely. The only fighter Manny has fought who mastered defense and counter-punching to a near PBF level was JMM, and he gave him fits. Floyd is probably the best defensive fighter of all time, and aside from the first Castillo fight, hasn't endured any semblance of punishment. I think it'd be fair to say he's as young a 32 as imaginable. He's bigger than Manny, a better defensive fighter, and probably just as fast. Realistically, Manny's career started at 122 (he turned pro at 16 and was forced up in weight as he continued to grow). Like Manny, Floyd is naturally smaller than Welterweights and is more than likely best suited for 140. I'd have to see JMM give Floyd problems before giving Manny a chance.
  17. Also, Mitch, you should probably take a look into buyrates. A big time prize fight is still king of the pay-per-view arena. As for Hatton, he was only overhyped in the build-up to his fight with Mayweather. People (I'm looking at you, British boxing fans) were bathing in his special brew of kool-aid. Those few months were the only times when I saw him mentioned alongside the elite of the elite, and Floyd aptly ended all of that talk. I expected this fight to be closer. I thought it'd take longer for Pac to fight off Ricky's domineering style and light him up...but how wrong was I? We just saw the definition of a dynamo run through a man that, as of late, has fought and beat some quality competition. But he's not on this level. I saw someone make the claim that the Oscar that Manny beat would beat Hatton today...and I have to agree. The second Ricky got hit, making Freddie Roach look like something of a sage, he reverted RIGHT back to his old style. I literally saw him lunge forward with his arms open to try and initiate a clinch, only for Manny to light him up with a two-piece. Now, we have to wait for Floyd v Manny, a fight in which PBF will win and retire.......again.
  18. Game Over Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh I'm semi positive I saw Ricky's soul leave him. I can see him fight Junior Witter in the MEN...and that's about it
  19. I liked the brief second of Punk eying Cena after the tag match. They need to turn him hee already. He's a natural
  20. Who the hell is Jade Goody? And it wasn't a "Jesus" entrance. No time during the feud did Shawn claim to be the son of God. What did happen, however, was the single greatest way this feud could be carried out in 2009, and that's taking advantage of Shawn's born-again status. Everything that came out of his mouth over the past month or so has been pure, bible-fueled gold. If anything else would've occured, I would've been ranting about the WWE dropping the ball on a ready made storyline. ---------------- Now playing: The Beatles (CrazyShark) - 09 - Martha My Dear via FoxyTunes
  21. Yep, twas NASCAR ace Carl Edwards. They've been friends since they were paired up in that Gillete Young Guns celebrity driver thing. NASCAR was in Fort Worth, a few hours North of Houston last weekend. Oddly enough, I just realized it, but Carl and Cena look a bit alike. http://d.yimg.com/i/ng/sp/ap_photo/20090320/all/l3708329.jpg http://www.gbposters.com/image/image/2403/SP0374-WWE-john-cena.jpg ---------------- Now playing: The Beatles (CrazyShark) - 07 - While My Guitar Gently Weeps via FoxyTunes
  22. I love long technical smark **** fests as much as anyone else (well, maybe not all of them), and I MTFO for Batista. He's like, the only guy in the WWE that's right. Nothing the WWE does with him is wrong, and that can't be said for ANYONE else. Moreso than Cena, which people seem to not realize, he's the most protected guy on the roster. Still has the best entrance, best music, and is able enough in the ring to be led by the solid workers he's surrounded with. Dude is proper.
  23. Hater in the house. The only special entrance that was stupid was HHH's. ---------------- Now playing: Clipse - Big Dreams via FoxyTunes
