  1. The Cardinals have a very good defense, quite possibly the best recieving core in the NFL, and an all-timer at running back, but their offensive line and QB drama will more than likely hold them back.
  2. I fully well know DBZ characters and was once obsessed with them. I was 12 once to. Now, the only thing that changes about most characters in DBZ is their power levels and abilities. Aside from Vegeta and (future) Trunks, I'm struggling to recall characters having complex personalities. Goku is the fun-loving good guy, who when his friends and families are threatened, because serious and very strong. When the main character of a series is a stock character, you already know what road you're going down. Gohan, despite a brief (and I mean BRIEF, in the universe, it probably lasted like 5 minutes, but of course, being DBZ, stretched across two episodes) bout of over confidence during his fight with Cell, remains the same person (until the timeskip when his stereotypical child behavior traits become teenage ones). Just, flat characters. For all the experiences they have, it sure doesn't reflect on their personalities (again, except for Vegeta and future Trunks, who almost by default are the most enigmatic characters in the series). Compare this to Gundam Wing, which started and finished during Z's run. Heero Yuy and Zechs Marquise, the focal characters of the series, have the way they look at life and their decisions and actions changed by the experiences they have. (despite the fact that Heero is blasted as probably the dullest main character in Gundam history). You mentioned Piccolo, who, in the early going, was the best example of a round character, however, once he went good, he never again swayed from the spot.
  3. I find it kind of hilarious how many people are writing this movie off already, when, in my eyes, all the changes they've made are in the effort to not make it a niche, crappy title. Number one, I think most people watched DB and DBZ as kids and when they reflect upon it, grossly overrate it. In DBZ especially, which is the biggest by far here in the States, the fight scenes are horribly drawn out, stories are go from cliche to just outright ridiculous, and the characters are awfully flat and generic. Not to mention, the visuals, if directly translated to live action, would just make everything reek of B-movie failure. Instead, they've tried to make everything a bit more feasible, and from what I've read, are striving for epic fights and visuals. i.e., they're going about making a proper action movie.
  4. UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture? Sure, he never lost the title, but then that kinda hangs Nog out to dry. No one else has left and then reclaimed their title. This interim champ thing Dana does is a cheap ploy for more hype.
  5. Wasn't one. Whenever the fight was stand-up, he dominated a guy that is a stand-up specialist. That was a completely one sided affair. Brock could do nothing towards finishing the fight on the ground, but that didn't matter, as he pretty much put Herring (who's 6'4" 250lbs) where he wanted. See, that's the thing. I just don't know how Randy works Brock anywhere. You say he uses dirty boxing to control the tempo, how on earth will he summon the strength to control Brock in the clinch, and especially defend takedowns against someone with such a freakish combination of physical traits. To me, Randy's hope is Brock gassing himself and taking over the later rounds, or a quick submission. Otherwise, he's going to spend majority of the fight rolling around on the ground trying to escape Brock's smothering.
  6. I think your underestimating just how big and just how strong Lesnar is. I mean, he made Herring, who I used to consider a big heavy, look tiny, and the extent in which he physically dominated him was shocking. No his submission and G-n-P game is good, but his wrestling is out of this world. The last time Randy faced a ground guy this large he was helpless as Barnett had his way with him. No, Brock isn't as well rounded as the Baby-Faced Assassin, but his strength, speed, and wrestling ability just seem incomperable to everyone else. It was him being overzealous that lead to his loss to Mir (who is probably the most oppurtunistic fighter, maybe ever). I don't think Randy can pull a knee bar out of his a**, as that's the sort of thing that will stop Brock.
  7. Can't call Theo the best option on the right. I think his strength will come from not exactly playing a position at all. Just moving him from the right, left, and even sometimes as a lone striker. However, leaving it up to him alone to create oppurtunities on the right just wouldn't be wise for anyone. No one is going to do a better job of creating from the right. Also, I can't be the only one that finds Gerrard playing on the wing to be blasphemous. He's too good in the center to waste.
  8. It's one of the MANY things that have been covered in this thread which cement his greatness. However, I just noticed, the what, three things you and TWP brought up that would diminish him as a player have been overwhelmingly proven to be false.
  9. The fact that Capello, a coach, considers Beckham a talent good enough to go back on his word on, and then repeatedly praise tells me something. Unless, of course, you're more qualified to judge players than one of the top coaches in the world. I mean, who, other than some know-it-all pundits has trully sneered upon Beckham's career? You're ignoring just what is for what you think it to be.
  10. More titles now? THEY WON THE SAME TITLE! And ka-freaking-duh Robben and Sneidjer are better players NOW. No one calls Beckham world class NOW because he's 33 years old and is no Zidane. But calling him overrated over the span of his career is insane. You're continually missing the point. He didn't play most of the season. However, he played a lot during the all important final stretch of the season when Madrid clawed to win the title, and Beckham played magnificently. How many articles do you need to see Capello admitting not playing Beckham MORE was a huge mistake before you get it through your head? He's basically said that had he not thrown Beckham by the wayside they wouldn't have been in the hole they were. Everyone, I mean seriously, EVERYONE aknwoledges him as the catalyst behind that title push. Nothing changed in that team other than they got a certified playmaker in a squad that was lacking a bridge from the midfield to the forwards. I'm guessing TWP missed out on the part when Capello banned him from practicing with the team, and instead of just sitting down, worked out by himself at the compound with a trainer. Yep, just an egotistical d-bag. I mean seriously, how many times does Capello have to admit he made a massive mistake. He's 'fessed up OFTEN about the scenario.
  11. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Maybe because, wait for it...the ENGLISH TEAM IS NOTHING! I mean, John Terry couldn't even captain England to Euro 08! Captain in soccer seems to be the most overrated position in all of sport. It's largely a symbolic gesture. It barely means anything. Every team has an emotional leader regardless. As for what Madrid has done since then...what the hell ever. You're ignoring the important part. WITHOUT HIM, THEY DO NOT WIN LA LIGA IN 2007! That's a downright fact. They needed him. Everyone and their mother (including the people who should be most inclined to deny this) knows this. Manchester United went four years without winning a title before someone could finally fill his shoes on the right. Where was the mighty Ryan Giggs then? EDIT: Also, you're harping on about the fact that Madrid won La Liga again this year without him as if it were the same team. I don't think you're aware that both Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder were added to the midfeild after Becks' departure.
  12. Argument = over. Also, it's clearly obvious you don't actually watch any La Liga. Beckham was the driving force behind they're late season push for the title. It's no coincidence that it's when Capello went back on his vow (takes a TON of humility to do that in such a position), let Beckham back into the team, and watched as he catapulted the team to a title. I mean, you're arguing not just against people on the internet, but Real Madrid management and the PLAYERS who don't care about how much money he brings in whatsoever
  13. National hero? Haven't taken a gander at my sig have you? Number two, everyone who's defender Beckham in this thread has been pretty specific about just what he did on the field. You're the only one living in the ever prevalent, soccer-smark, anti-Beckham garbage. Seriously, the results speak for themselves.
  14. The likes of C.Ronaldo and Messi are the same and (and younger) than he is, and while he was the class of his class early on, he's not lived up to what was expected of him. I've always felt he (well, along with every other good English player besides Terry and Gerrard) was overrated. As for Beckham, who considers him world class now? I mean...he's old. Still the best option for England on the right though. As for his career, Becks is the definition of an impact player. The man is damn near one of a kind, and his playmaking ability caused teams fits. Not to mention, he reaches just another realm of good on dead ball plays. He was very much one of the best players in the world, and though faltering a bit now, his final stretch for Madrid just showed how much he can still do for a team. People who fail to recognize his ability on the field are either blind, angry, jealous, dumb, or E) All of the above.
