  1. @Gareth The Great, you're right, I just forgot about that one. Thanks for sharing the clip. I don't think I've ever seen him play live before. I enjoyed it!
  2. I have a habit of falling down rabbit roles while conducting research for work, so I usually have several tabs open too. I don't think I'm quite as extreme as you are though. How does your computer handle all that?
  3. @Dwayne, I think it comes on in a month or two. Bravo is hyping it up. I don't think that's what this one was about. Apparently there was a power struggle for the inheritance. The stepfather was MUCH younger than the grandmother when they married. It's rare that the dude is the gold digger in a relationship, but that looks like the motive here. Then after her grandmother passed, marrying her stepfather seems to have allowed Mary Crosby to inherit everything over her mother. I wondered why the inheritance was skipping a generation. I have no idea what the whole story is, but I bet it'll make for good television. You had a good point though. I could see someone marrying a step in order to keep them from taking what they see as their family's money.
  4. @Gareth The Great, does Chris Lowe really ever sing? Time to add some boy bands to the mix with One Direction and The Jackson 5. One Direction wrote a few of their hit singles and they all sing. The Jackson 5 had many hits that were written by Motown pros with an ear for commerciality , but the brothers wrote some of their own music that made it onto their albums, and they all sang as well.
  5. Bravo is shooting The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, so you know we're about to see some Mormon momma drama. The ladies include Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Mary Cosby, Whitney Rose, Meredith Marks, and Jen Shah. The only surname I recognize is Barlow. Maybe the women married outside of the LDS faith and took their husbands' surnames. There's always one lady who is thrown into the bunch who doesn't quite fit in. For this show it's Mary Crosby. Crosby is Pentecostal (her family founded the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church in Salt Lake) and she married her step-grandfather because that's the only way she could take over the family business. She's a gorgeous woman. What can I say? I like trashy television. Are you planning to watch?
  6. Outlander was a hard show to get into because there was so much talking and romance. I couldn't watch it either. I stopped watching MTV's reality shows like Real World and Road Rules. I just couldn't keep up. I would like to abandon more shows than I do, but FOMO is real. Killing Eve has been pretty terrible these past two seasons. Maybe I'll start with it.
  7. I don't care either way. Sorry, but they've both been caught with performance-enhancing substances in their system and in my opinion, they're cheaters, not athletes. Lesnar would be a fool to go for it though. Has he even been training for a real fight? I doubt it.
  8. Photos. This one is hard because it seems baked into our social landscape thanks to smartphones. I love hanging out with friends and colleagues, but I'm a private person, and I don't want my photo taken. I don't want photos taken of anything I own, including my pets. My home, car, and yard can't be the backdrop for your selfie either. People are judgmental and employers look at that stuff; I don't do social media for a reason. I no longer enjoy looking at photos of others either. It's mostly lies. Look, Carly, I know you hate your husband and are having an affair, so your "date night" photo is ridiculous. Yes! I don't get the surrounding hype about her at all!
  9. Some parents do just that, Poppy, and some experts actually support it. They call it sleep training and there's more than one method to pick from. Some of the more extreme sleep training methods force the baby to self-soothe by "allowing" them to cry-it-out, while other methods don't, and even more are in between. I think parents mostly reach for it as a last resort when they're incredibly sleep-deprived and can't continue on. I'm childfree as well and thankful for it, but I often took care of my sister when she was a baby. When she'd wail as an infant, her little face would get red, tears would stream down her face, and her little nose would start to pour. Since you're supposed to lay babies on their back to sleep, I'd be afraid one might choke on tears and mucus if left unattended all night. Babies will often cry for a long time and it's not like they can wipe their faces or roll over to avoid choking. I'd be afraid to ignore the crying.
  10. It is hot here! So hot! I feel for the folks who work outside all the time. Do you mean protestors? I obviously haven't seen every protest location, but I drive by three sets on my way to work. From what I've seen there haven't been any riots. Not to mention, it would be impossible to tell which side, if any, started the riot. I say that because if I was planning to do something criminal for money, I'd time it with something else that's chaotic in order to place blame elsewhere. I really hate it when newsgroups say such bad things. As though our townspeople are rotten and our police force is crooked. People are protesting and the cops come by, but no one seems to have a problem with the other. There's been no escalation of tactical gear, gassing the crowd, tasing people, shutting off body cameras, hitting citizens, kidnapping citizens and journalists, shooting into the crowd, or anything of the sort. And on the other side, the protestors haven't thrown a firebomb, disrupted traffic, or anything like that. I've seen the two sides sharing water, sunscreen lotion, and everything else. I think that's much more common than what we're seeing on the news. Most people act decently- whether they're police officers, or soldiers, or average citizens. There's no reason to think that a lineman can't do the job safely. I had to quit watching the news. It's all gloom and doom because that's what sells.
  11. There are many old movies that I love, but the one I saw most recently was The Wizard of Oz. Judy Garland was an incredible actress and who could resist Toto? @TynBox I keep meaning to watch Blade Runner and that scene you posted has made me even more interested. I guess now is a good time to watch it. Thanks to the coronavirus and social distancing, there's not much else to do.
  12. I'm pretty surprised by the announcement too, @Knox. I thought WWE 2K21 was already in the works. What bugged me about WWE 2K20 was that they got rid of so many options that I loved in previous versions. Every release has been full of glitches though.
  13. I didn't realize The Miz had been pulled until I saw it. There was some talk about him sick beforehand, but I assumed it was just talk. I wonder if that's why Roman Reigns and Paige got worried and bailed. Gronk was funny at first, but as the show went on, his theatrics became more and more annoying. What? The Undertaker always looks good. Well, except for the debacle in Saudi Arabia with Goldberg. Not much of a Taker fan? I go back and forth over the old greats really. They still have moments of greatness and nostalgia always pulls me in, but eventually, someone will get hurt, especially when you consider how many botches we see. I disagree with the common opinion that botches will harm their old school reps though. A great will always be a great. I think Taker looks good in the ring still, but maybe I'm blinded. It's definitely possible. I think AJ Styles is good at selling it, which probably helped. The druids were a nice touch. I don't see how they managed to stay within the number of people limits like Vince claimed though.
  14. @Knox I think the bit about some wrestlers being upset is just gossip, but there's probably some truth behind it. To me, it looks like Vince is working with them though. Paige didn't want to travel to Orlando and that desire was accommodated. Reigns wanted out, and he's out. Insiders say that several wrestlers are upset, but you know we're not going to get names. Not now at least. I feel comfortable watching because I don't feel like anyone is being forced. If Vince came down hard on a wrestler for skipping WrestleMania, the fans would go insane. There would be a massive boycott. That would affect Vince's pocketbook and we all know he doesn't want that. How much power did Vince have over the decision to continue on with WrestleMania? I just wonder how much was down to Vince and how much was down to Fox.
  15. My life honestly hasn't changed much. I'm not going out with friends, but work is still happening. We're just down to a smaller crew than usual.
  16. I'm planning to watch and if any wrestlers feel like they've been coerced to participate, I sure haven't noticed. Roman Reigns made the right call to put his health first. Plus, let's be honest, he usually gets a big bump from fans anytime his leukemia is mentioned. I can't see it being a problem for him career wise down the road. I love The Undertaker. He's probably my absolute favorite wrestler of all time. But my goodness, why did he ever pretend to retire? I previously bought the rhetoric that Vince was pushing the old guard to continue wrestling, simply to help the brand. I really thought Taker wanted to stop. Now I know better. Dude was just pretending that he wanted out. I don't think it's about the money either. Not at all. He just loves the whole atmosphere and the job too much to retire. He loves being The Undertaker and isn't ready to give that up. And why should he? He's looking better than ever in the ring.
  17. I think it's been announced that he'll have an analyst role on WWE Backstage, but I like him, so I hope he gets in the ring again. I'm not sure if Vince is responsible for this or if Fox called it.
  18. I'm so sorry you're having a hard time! It would bother me too and I don't even live alone. I know it's not the same as hanging out with people, but we can all chat on the forum and you can PM me any time and I'll reply.
  19. @WAYNE Ah, I mixed you up with another poster then. Sorry! No, I'm from a family of strong women. All had careers, no cooking, cleaning, or whatever. I can boil eggs sort of, but that's about it. I use my stove for storage. I've had a tubal ligation. I put my career first. No one bats an eye at any of that. I was talking about legal obligations and I don't want those strings. I'm happy. I like my freedom. I don't want to get married. Isn't that enough? I've been taking in the comments though, and I realize I'm the oddball. I thought you all would think he's nuts for buying a ring for a woman who openly admits that marriage isn't for her. I hope he was able to return it. I haven't asked because if the answer is no I'll feel so guilty, even though I know I shouldn't and I don't want to open another relationship talk. Heck, I needed internet strangers to hold my hand just for me to bring it up at all - hence the thread. I had hoped to wiggle out of the whole thing without having to acknowledge it.
  20. Jake The Snake - you all caught that right? Man, he looks really good now. I'm glad he's pulled himself together and has gotten healthy again! Good for him! What a coup for AEW by bringing him on the show. Is Cody's neck tattoo real? I hope it's just part of kayfabe because it looks awful. I think AEW is making a mistake by pushing Jericho so much, even though he's fun to watch. I still wish they'd get better female wrestlers. Brandi is about the only one I like and that's saying something. WWE has several women who are good in the ring and on the mic and it's hard not to compare the two promotions. I think we all had that dream. I used to pretend that I was The Undertaker (I wasn't that into any of the women at that time, so why not). Truthfully, I don't want to get hurt and couldn't handle taking bumps.
  21. @WAYNE I briefly thought about doing that just to avoid the uncomfortable talk. What's very odd is that I'm pretty devoted to Catholicism while he's a dedicated atheist. How on earth did he see that playing out if we were to get married? He sees me leave for Mass, he sees me pray regularly, he knows I actively participate. I obviously don't judge anyone who believes differently, but marriage is serious business. So, I thought about saying yes, then bringing up his conversion because I want to get married in the church and of course we'd have to attend couples counseling beforehand with the priest. Are you married by chance? Twice? Your username seems familiar, but I might be confusing you with another poster. No, but dude, every time you post I admire your open honesty more and more. Are you that frank in real life? It's hard to find someone who will tell you truth rather than what they think you want to hear. I think it's super sweet that you're still supportive of marriage even though you've been through a divorce. Do you think you'd like to get married again down the road? I've cheated before but I'm not into sharing, so no to polyamory. I know what would change if I got married. We'd be legally linked, and other than that marriage bonds create obligations that I don't want. I absolutely support anyone who chooses to get married and can see how it works great for some couples. That's actually one of the reasons he thought I'd go for it - I've been an enthusiastic bridesmaid several times. He wasn't aware of the social obligations that are placed on women in this context, plus no one wants to seem like an unsupportive friend or family member. He understood once I explained it to him though. I really hate talking about the relationship. It just makes me cringe and squirm and I'm an immature avoider when it comes to that. Truthfully, I don't think he thought about it too deeply. We're in our mid-thirties, so maybe he feels pressured to run to the altar. We live in the South and that's kind of the culture. After several days of awkwardness things have gone back to normal, so I'm happy to leave it be.
  22. Well, I finally told him. I figured Sunday evening was a good time since we'll be at work all day tomorrow. Now it feels so awkward. I'm not the marrying kind and I thought he wasn't either. I hate drama. @WAYNE I've said that very thing at least a dozen times. Turns out he thought I just hadn't met the right guy yet. I wasn't being cocky. I knew the ring was meant for me. The box had my name on it.
  23. @Gareth The Great, I don't know what to say though. I don't know how to bring it up. Can you help? We're watching a movie and my mouth is so dry and my heart is pounding. I wish the problem would just go away.
  24. I accidentally found the ring and I'm afraid he's going to propose on our anniversary that's coming up. I don't want to get married. It's never been a life goal. I'll never do it. I don't want tied to one person forever or until one of us cheats and gets caught. I'm a little annoyed because he knows how I feel about it and it's like he's trying to force the issue. I also don't want to break up, but marriage is off the table. How can I head this off without letting him know that I know?
  25. Are you still happy with it, @Zack T. Which games are you running right now? I've been in a similar situation and it was absolutely infuriating. And of course, once the next big thing is out, prices fall on that shiny object you just paid full price for. Yeah, it took me a long time to get over it.
