  1. The Walking Dead started out amazing, but the show writers definitely lost their way at some point. I'm not exactly sure when the show jumped the shark, but it needs put out of its misery. I think The Big Bang Theory is another one that has went in too many directions and needed to end ages ago. I don't watch it anymore, but I believe this is the last season. I don't think shows need an artificial limit on how long they should run. It's more about when they lose direction or the story and characters have come to an honest conclusion, yet they continue trying to drag it out.
  2. We've definitely got some creative usernames here! I feel like I know you all better now. @ZackT Your username threw me off. I never expected that it was inspired by Booker T. He still looks amazing. Can you dig that, sucka! @WAYNE I just checked your profile and it's amazing that you've been here since 2004. I will happily bow down to an OG, especially one with a wicked username like TGO (the great one). I hope you'll stick around and post a bit more often! I also hope you OGs don't feel overrun by us newer folks.
  3. @IdesOfMarch, thanks a bunch for sharing that information! I had no idea something like that could happen and considered the testing as just something to do for fun. I guess it's taken pretty seriously, which lends the company some credibility. I'll definitely skip it though.
  4. I've noticed some creative usernames around here and wondered how you came up with yours. I chose ShadowEdge because I enjoy reading mystery themed novels and ShadowEdge sounds very spy like. Or maybe it sounds more like a G.I. Joe soldier, really it could go either way. What about you?
  5. @Salome G, I usually stick with lighter shows like comedies and reality television. I love reading mysteries and psychological thrillers and can lose myself between the pages for hours on end. I was pleasantly surprised by the Sharp Objects series, which is what made me search for others like it. I missed a lot of the clues that were sprinkled throughout the show, which is one reason that I usually prefer reading these stories. I guess I just pay better attention when I'm reading while television is pretty passive. @Maya Hannibal is too scary for me, but the others look great and I'm about to settle in with Black Swan. Thanks!
  6. I don't understand the hoopla about The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I've tried to like it, but it seems absolutely ridiculous and not the funny kind of ridiculous either. On the other hand, I still can't get enough of The Princess Bride and watch it once a year if not more often.
  7. That is a key part of the information. I immediately begin flipping channels when there's a break so I'm glad you posted this. I need to stop flipping so much so I don't miss out. It sounds a bit like VH-1's old Pop-Up Video show.
  8. Both the cats and dogs I've owned have loved to "help" with MY showers. That doesn't mean that they want a shower though. The cats mostly just stare at me and tell me I'm doing wrong. They usually try showing me the tongue bath method that they prefer. Really, I think they're protecting me from evil people who might break into the house while I'm bathing. I call it guard duty. Heaven forbid you get one tiny droplet of water near them while they're pulling guard duty though. So your pup isn't big on baths? It sounds like he was traumatized. In the past mine have liked to swim and play in the water, but they didn't enjoy being bathed and dried. I feel compelled to downvote this simply because my cat is in my lap judging you so hard. I'm going to hold back though. The Queen of de'Floof is merciful that way. *whispers* Those are some good points, Zack T.
  9. I'm into psychological thrillers at the moment and Netflix recommendations aren't helping me. I really like psychological T.V. shows and movies with a twist. Any suggestions? I have Netflix, cable, some premium channels, and Amazon Prime. I don't have Hulu at the moment.
  10. Some of the most popular shows are made by Disney and rated G, so no violence isn't necessary to create a big hit. A compelling storyline is always the most important ingredient. I always change the channel when one animal is about to kill the other. Does anyone else do that? I know it's the circle of life and all that, I just don't need to witness it.
  11. Have you purchased one of those kits to have your genetics tested and analyzed? If so, did you have any surprises and did it change the way you live now? I keep seeing the commercials and have wanted to do it for a while now. However, I keep picturing myself all alone in my kitchen and learning something about my health that raises concerns. Of course, in my head it would happen on a Friday, but the doctor wouldn't be in until Monday - that's a long time to stew!
  12. I love my pets. Truly. I just want to sleep later than 5:00 a.m. for a change. I miss sleeping without an animal attached to me and taking a shower without "help".
  13. I'm going with eternal winter because I'm burning up. Ask me again once it's cold out and I'm sure my answer would change. Which cartoon dog would you rather own, Snoopy from Charlie Brown/Peanuts or Scooby from Scooby-Doo?
  14. Have you seen any of the movies or the first episode of the show yet? I'm not sure when the television series airs in the UK , but if you haven't watched and don't want spoiled, don't continue reading my reply. Churches definitely aren't sanctuaries as terrible crimes take place right inside a church with religious onlookers happily there. @Luna, do you think this thread needs a spoiler tag?
  15. @Zack T, would all of the adults raise your kids then and would you pitch in with the other kiddos in the group? I know the topic is meant to be about casual significant others, but since you were married, have kids, and seem open to sharing info, I'm hoping it's okay to ask. I hope I'm not stomping on your boundaries. I have nothing to compare "the lifestyle" to other than what I've seen on TLC and Lifetime. I'd probably be more open to it if I was bisexual and we were all together because I would dig the communal aspects. @HighlyLogicalSure, all men look, but so do all women. I'm not much for love and loyalty myself and when I've had a casual fling, I never expected to know whether they were flinging with someone else or not. I think the internet and smartphone cameras have changed things for me though. I wouldn't be okay with sharing just because I think it would open me up to privacy violations. Even with communication, one gal's fling might be the guy's commitment and it's easy to find yourself as the dreaded "other woman" when you thought things were casual for all parties involved. There are whole websites dedicated to naming and shaming. I'm a private, guarded person.
  16. It has promise, but I felt the same way about the Condor television series and was disappointed a couple of episodes in. Basically, the jury is still out for me. I'd like to have seen more back story of each character and the government before the purge, but maybe we'll get those through flashbacks.
  17. WWE 2K19 is supposed to come out in October and the creators are teasing which wrestlers are in the lineup. The entire list hasn't been revealed, but so far Cena, Lynch, Orton, and Flair haven't been included. I bet they'll be revealed closer to time to generate buzz. Are you planning to purchase the game? I'm going to sit on it for a while. The last game was incredibly buggy at first and I'm not making that mistake again. Hopefully this one won't be full of glitches.
  18. Men get to be the players and coaches. There isn't room for most women. Why sit around watching all that when you know you'll never be allowed to take part in the same way?
  19. Both adults should share in the work equally, regardless of employment. Being the stay-at-home parent is an endless, thankless job and the one who makes that sacrifice is benefiting the working partner who doesn't have to pay for childcare. There is no ending time, vacation, sick days, or anything else. Both parents should be equally engaged in childcare because studies show that's what is best for the children. I don't know why people have children myself when they're gobs of work and a drain on finances. I fully support other parents though!
  20. Restaurants, fast food joints, shops, eateries, the choice is endless. There's also frozen dinners, sandwiches, microwavable meals like Lunchables and soups, cold foods, dry goods, and more. I've never cooked a day in my life. I don't own a single pot. I use the oven for storage. Today, I'm assuming most people marry for love. Back in the day I'm sure money and intimacy played a more prominent role. I come from a long line of men and women who've never cooked. I don't even know how to boil an egg. My mom and grandmother don't know how either...this came up during Easter when I had to YouTube directions for the Easter egg hunt. We wound up buying plastic eggs and decorating those instead. None of us, or our families, have starved. In all honesty, I'm sure you didn't mean that women should do the cooking and cleaning because it's a woman's job. That's just who you happened to overhear.
  21. I used to watch old kung fu movies with my grandfather when I was a kid, so this topic has hit me with a wave of nostalgia. Some of the best ones had English speakers dubbed over the original foreign version. Of course, the dialogue was always several seconds behind which created some hilarious scenes.
  22. I think virtual reality still has room for improvement. The only further advancement that I can picture happening is wearing a suit that gives feedback. When your player is hit, you feel a vibration or whatever. Or maybe we're heading into a Simon and Kable situation like in the movie Gamer.
  23. I'm mostly interested in the plot and the characters' personalities. Most animated films today seem geared towards everyone. I think that's especially true of Pixar's films.
  24. Is Minecraft included in this genre? Minecraft still seems to have a cult following, especially since the developers made game play compatible with all devices and someone with a PC can participate with someone who is playing on a tablet.
  25. I'd want Mystique's abilities because she could impersonate others which seems more useful than Wolverines healing ability and strength. If you were going to hunker down for a lazy day of reading which genre would you select, a modern mystery novel or a fantasy/sci-fi novel?
