Where do we start ?
I love Stewart Lee - but really Mitch has covered all the corners perfectly so I'll leave it at that.
Ross Noble is another favourite of mine - it's, from a distance, ridiculous jibberish for a few hours but if you sit and listen you see a man with absolutely fantastic timing, a great ear for playing up to the audience and such an incredibly way for winding together all his various lines of thought. The one thing I do love is that, due to his improvised style, the entire show ends up becoming one big in-joke for the people watching, and it creates a great atmosphere because of it.
I love Victoria Wood as far as female comedians go and the woman just does not get enough love.
I am a big fan of Jack Dee who's cynical and sarcastic nature tickles me just right. He's the kind of guy who I look at and can already feel myself starting to laugh.
I was introduced properly to Tim Vine a few months ago and have to say I really appreciate his absolutely madcap style - the speed, and variety of his delivery is astounding to say the least.
I like Billy Connely HOWEVER he's really not as funny as he thinks he is.
I have never quite got Bill Hicks or Eddie Izzard - call me controversial but (from the limited amout I've seen) I just don't think they're THAT funny.
Peter Kay is good at what he does, just a shame he has the one routine. Russell Howard falls down that same dark and smelly hole.
Peter Cook is always good, along with some Dudley Moore although it's hard to come by.
Ricky Gervais is a bit backwards and forwards for me...
I'm not a fan of Jimmy Carr or Russell Brand... I had a friend who was a huge fan of both and used to argue against me (in the case of Brand) that "... oh, but he's really smart behind the character he puts on while performing".
I don't care if he's got a PhD in Rocket Science, I still don't find him funny !
Can't go wrong with some Ed Byrne goodness.
I'm going to leave it there for just now.
