True enough but it certainly helped them. It's like a point DC (I believe) made about Lesnar. The fact when he debuted the commentators were like "HOLY F*CK IT'S BROCK LESNAR" even though it's a guy we had never seen or heard of before... just because they KNEW who he was, we suddenly had a reason to care. In the same way when you see the crowd going absolutely mental over somebody you get into it and think "hmm, there must be something about him that is to be liked". Peer pressure and all that. It doesn't make them into a star, I quite agree, but sure as hell gets them off to a good start.

Somebody actually did some detective work months back and it was agreed that since Styles was with TNA and RoH from about the time it was unfair to say that he was made in RoH. I think it was the same with Daniels but don't hold me to it. In the argument of Joe, if you remember his original debut he had a Punk-in-the-ECW-arena type reaction because the majority of folk in the TNA audience KNEW who he was because of his major RoH run. I would say his reputation certainly helped get him over in TNA because he was over as f*ck from the word go.

I was, just there due to ZERO's recommendation, watching some of the best of the Osirian Portal (Chikara faction with their very own Phunky Pharoh) - well worth a look if you enjoy Human Tornado.

I asked what they've done. I've listed everything I know about the Freebirds in my first post and am genuinely interested in what on Earth they've done to gain such a reputation. I'm especially interested in Jay's take on this because he's pushing so heavily for Michael Hayes to be included. I know that they're successful (or at least know that they're well thought-of but couldn't say to what kind of degree in the bigger picture as I don't know that much about them). I am happy for anyone else to educate me because I DO want to learn about the Freebirds.

You know you're right. You know who else focuses way too much on television ratings - those stupid broadcasting companies... the ones who allow us to see our beloved wrasslin'... You should go pitch Mistico VS Angle to them, I'm sure they'd be very interested with your air-tight logic.

I actually meant can you translate what Jay said, like was I reading it correctly. You usually seem pretty on the ball so figured you were a good person to ask (plus you were online at the time of posting :P). Don't worry, I would never ask you to do something crazy like THAT. :lol I really don't know how to argue with that logic. "It's a rematch, why not". That's a good point, why not... why not... why... not... Well, it's ten years on now (ah, Taz couldn't of been commentating for 10 years as the match with Angle was Rumble 2000, now I feel silly). Taz is seen by the general public as a COMMENTATOR and as you can see with your eyes hasn't looked after himself (ie. isn't in shape to compete. ie. is fat). Even if there are folk who remember him as a wrestler they will remember neutered WWE Tazzzzzz and not psychotic dangerous ECW Taz so it's not like you are recapturing some huge, mind-blowing, dream feud/match whatever... Angle is a part of the main event picture in TNA and is a huge part of the MEM/Frontline story. To bring Taz into that I assume he has to be a part of the Frontline. Meaning not only do the Originals need has-beens and on/off-retirees but in actual fact need commentators to stand up for them as well. I could even live with you saying "Have Taz put Angle in the Tazmission after Kurt picks on him for a wee bit" but an actual match... I admire the dream, I really do. I also NEED you to understand that I mock you because it amuses me and it helps to diffuse the tension that seems to be growing between us, which I don't want.

You're my hero Mitch. I'll REALLY need to check out the Corgan video - him being a bit crazy is always excellent. Then why did you ask for a biased host... ?

Push a man who has commentated for nearly 10 years (until someone gives me a specific figure that's the number I'm sticking with) into the main event to fight with the leader of the Main Event Mafia. This is all part of the heat stage of the Mafia/Frontline feud I assume ?
