Trashiest/tackiest reality television show?

Lindsay Lohan is supposedly planning and starring in a reality show that will be on MTV. It's going to be similar to Vanderpump Rules and will feature Lohan's Grecian nightclub. This got me thinking - what would you say has been the trashiest/tackiest reality series to grace our televisions? With so many reality shows already on-air, do you think there's room for another reality foray in the lineup?

That would have to be Benefits Street. I don't think the programme came on across the pond, but it was poverty porn at it's finest - or maybe it's worst. Channel 4 documentaries usually turn out in poor taste.

I'm not going to lie, I'll give Lohan's show a chance. My inner-teenager wouldn't let me miss that trainwreck. I hadn't heard that she was coming out with one so I'm actually (sadly) excited about this.

I think Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has to be the trashiest show that I've ever seen.

I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Lindsay Lohan because of The Parent Trap, and Mean Girls. She was so beautiful and gorgeous in Mean Girls, and so funny and brilliant in The Parent Trap. That being said, I don't think I'll like this new venture she has coming up. I don't know, maybe I'll check it out. I didn't even know about it, this is my first time hearing of it.

There's always room for more 'reality' TV. As long as people want to see it, then the people who are responsible for these types of shows being made will still keep cranking them out. They're not going anywhere, they're here to stay.

And the show that spawned it, Toddlers and Tiaras, was equally as trashy. It actually went off the air for a few years, then came back on a couple years ago for a trial season just in case the public was actually ready for that mess. Turns out we weren't and it wasn't renewed. I sadly tuned in each week. Hey, I'm not above listening to a frumpy housewife yelling at her tween daughter to "shake it" for the judges.

She seems to have matured into an intersting woman. I would watch it for that reason alone. A Greek themed nightclub with an interest in refugee children. That's quite a mix.

She's interesting all right. I'm glad that she seems to have pulled herself together a little. For better or worse, I think there's always going to be more room for reality shows. I think this is especially true when it comes to MTV. That's their bread and butter.

And let's not forget her ever-changing accent.

You never know who you might hear from one day to the next. I like her though.:)

I completely agree with you about MTV and their throng of reality shows. One can only imagine how much those shows make in a year. Do you remember when MTV used to play music? I get it though, YouTube has made the need for television shows that play music videos almost non-existent, so MTV had to re-invent itself, and change with the times.

I admit, I'll watch a reality show every now and then just so that I know what's going on-- on certain fronts, and sometimes I might even get caught up in a reality show marathon and watch it all day, but that's rare for me.

I adore her too. She's a mess, but then I look at her parents and can understand why. Both are willing to sell her out for a dime. Both are addicts themselves and encouraged Lindsay's addiction as well. Despite all that, she's really a talented actress.

She seems to have grown up her life in the fast lane. Still likes the nightlife, but is more mature and less self-destructive about it. As if she was "groomed" by Madonna herself.

Yikes!

She does seem like she's learned from her lessons, which is a good thing. Many in the Hollywood lot don't. I think that her being so young when she started acting has had a lot to do with her issues. Maybe not too much too soon, because she's still relevant and working, but definitely almost too much to soon. She's bounced back nicely.

She's been a mess for awhile, but I think that she's grown up a lot (figuratively) and learned that Hollywood and true friendship are not synonymous. I think perhaps her parents have learned quite a few lessons too. Their daughter's talent is one that they should encourage and protect, not exploit, but I guess it's easy to get caught up in a certain type of lifestyle. When Lindsay was just a little girl, her parents were able to have control over things. Now that Lindsay is an adult and getting older every day hopefully things will continue to stay on the right track.

I don't think I could ever forget that bizarre accent of hers. She even named it LILOHAN. I like that she just owns her oddities. She's given up putting on a show for people (which always makes for interesting reality television).

I'm sure their reality shows must bring in a lot of money or there wouldn't be so many of them. I tried to look up the numbers but every time I searched for it, Google just came back with hits about how much the reality stars themselves make. Honestly I can barely remember a time that MTV played music. It's sad, isn't it? I get the necessity for change too. I guess I find it surprising that MTV hasn't tried reality shows that focus on something music-related.

She certainly did. I think it's sad that her parents were going down the fast lane with her. She never had a chance. It does seem like she's less self-destructive and that's what's really important.

Glad that she beat the odds though.

I haven't heard anything about her in so long that my first reaction to this was a dubious "Has she?" I rarely find starring in a reality show to be a sign of making good choices.

I'm glad I was proven wrong. It sounds like she won't be starring in this show but will be the "mastermind" behind the business. She seems to have really found herself and has a renewed sense of purpose. She also looks so much healthier!

That is true. I always looked at it as it was their only choice left. B list actors, basically, that can't find work any higher up.

Trashy? Honey Boo Boo and her family... Or these shows about gypsy weddings, I don't remember what they are called, but wow. I feel like they are not always real life though, I can't imagine people live like that.
