Overused phrases or sayings

"Gone viral" and "deep dive" used to bother me, but I've gotten used to or numb to them. Is there a saying or phrase that you think is now overused?

"EPIC!" And most any other gamer-internet lingo that people have taken to saying out loud. "Lawl" for LOL is another one. Just annoys the heck out of me.

 

Also always hated the phrase "Cream of the crop" or "The cream rises to the top". I don't like the word cream.

If you're not a racist, you don't have to clarify what you're going to say before you say it.

 

Whenever I hear that, I know to tune the rest of it out. Like, thanks for the warning. I know who to avoid now.

I get my hackles up over the guru stuff like "mindfulness" and "live your best life." I also dislike bossy art like "live, love, pray" and the different variations of "keep calm and ______." To be fair, I never noticed the bossy art thing until my girlfriend pointed it out and now I can't unsee it.

Lots of travel and music stuff shows up on my YouTube feed. The trending video titles that bug me use "First impressions of ____ !" and "My thoughts on ___ !" Harmless, but seeing them make me care less about the topic.

It's the hashtags that kill me. It's not my thing, but I can handle most of the mom stuff like #momlife, #proudmom, and the like. But I draw the line at #girlboss and #mompreneur (both usually MLM related). I also dislike #boymom (usually used when the boy is misbehaving).

I'm a bit sick of hearing, "the life of Riley," "I did a thing," "all the things," "literally (often misused)," and "legit". "Super (adjective)" is overused as well, but sadly, I find myself using it all the time. It's super annoying.

I have never paid much attention to the overused phrases, and I think from now on, they are going to get to me. "Literally"' and "Be that as it may" are the ones that come to mind now.

"You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a _______" Fill in the blank. Meant to imply that there is too much of something around in close proximity than there should be.. It's more weird than annoying, but still. I guess it's the imagery.

It's not offensive to me, and I doubt it would be to the gentleman it's directed towards. Under normal circumstances of course.

Wow, I've never heard either of those, but yeah, it would bug me too after a while. Is it a gamer thing? I game, but I rarely pay attention to what's said. Some guy can be very vulgar. I just ignore it.

Thankfully, that word is already fading in use. It's not a gamer thing, more of a social media thing. I've seen it as sort of a payback term for "slut" but in both cases, cringe.

Well as I've come to understand it, F***Boy is not specifically about a male who has lots of sex, but rather about a guy who's sole mission is to have as much sex as possible and treats people like crap in the furtherance of that goal.

I've been seeing way more use of "space" in non-physical (social, political) ways. "Giving a space for..." or "In this space..." I guess as a substitute for "area" or "platform"?
