A mother and father are born in town X with a major league team. When they get older, they move to town Y 2,000 miles away that has their own major league team. Because town X is still their hometown, they still root for that team.

Years go by and they have a child in town Y. This town is now the home team of the child.

Who should the child root for when they get old enough to know what's going on?

The team that represents the town the child was born in. That's what the parents did when they were at their childs' age, and.........it's the "right" thing to do.

Have you seen instances where a child born in town Y ends up playing for this home team despite the parents being born in town X? The child should have the liberty to choose when the time is right!

The choice will be the child's when the time comes, and this can go either way. Have you seen household's where each person supports a different team? We all tend to choose differently, and it all comes down to loyalty!

That child should break all the rules and root for team Z whom he or she has no affiliations with whatsoever. LOL Upend the the apple cart.

The child should always root for the hometeam. Hometown pride.

The child should root for whoever the child wants to. Don't make every decision for your child! It makes it more fun if people in your family cheer for different teams!
The kiddo should rebel and root for one of the biggest rivals of either team. Why not? Might as well make the family tea more interesting.
