What video-game character is your favourite of all time?

 

Mine would have to be Sonic. Growing up I didn't have a SNES like everyone else had around me, but I grew up with both a Sega Master System and a MegaDrive. I spent countless hours playing Sonic 1,2,3 and Sonic & Knuckles.

I remember going to a friends house when I was younger and playing Mario on the SNES, and even though it was okay, playing as a fat plumber wasn't as appealing as running at top speeds and spinning around the place as a cool blue hedgehog. Sonic should've ended after Sonic & Knuckles and preserved it's legacy but instead it continued on and embarassed itself much like Muhammad Ali done. Sonic failed time after time in 3-D. But I just tend to focus on the classic 2-D days and am happy to name Sonic my favourite video game character of all time.

My favourite modern day character would have to be Kratos off God of War. He's probably the coolest character in any game in years. His dark personality and amazing attacks make him a top character to play as.

My favourite would have to by Link. I have loved all of the Legend of Zelda games (with the possible exception of Windwaker). I've spent countless hours in temples, solving the puzzles and getting totally frustrated.

 

My favourite Link game is Majora's Mask followed by Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.

Actually though it's sonic, as it was the first sega console game I ever played.

I have to break this down into Heroes and Villains

 

Hero

 

This is actually a tough question, as there are so many. I really want to say Cloud Strife from Final Fantasty 7, but I don't think I can. Tidus from FF10 pips him.

 

Villain

 

This is a lot easier, Sephiroth from FF7. The dude just personifies cool while being malignantly evil and creepy. Probably the best video game villain ever.

Favorite Video Game characters? Hmm, I guess Mega Man (all but the X incarnation) and the Prince of Persia.

I love Alucard from Castlevania Symphony of the Night, but he pips Dante from Devil May Cry into second place only just. I love how Dante is bullet hard and has an endless stream of cheesy one liners, yes, its not "realistic", but ffs its a game dammit! I want my heroes larger than life.
