Sticking with Marvel movies, Empire have a report on the latest addition to the (seemingly never-ending) cast of Thor. Rene Russo will be playing Frigga, the mother of the hammer-wielding one.

The first picture of Thor has been released online and I think he looks pretty damn good.

It'd be better without the sleeves and cape I reckon.

 

I'm reserving judgement until I get to see a picture of Mjolnir, but I'm still not sure on having Kenneth Branagh direct it. Not sure at all...

Well yeah if they're going old Thor then he'd have to have the cape and the winged helmet, but from the look of the armour they're going for something closer to Ultimate Universe Thor:

Never been a real big fan of Thor, I'm sure he has a place, but God comics (and Superman) tend to bore the pants off me, no real threats are going on with him.

Depends on which they do, when he was trappped in the body of the crippled guy he had that as a massive weak spot. But by and large, yeah.

Its my annoyance with The Hulk as well, at least Supes had kyrptonite.

Agreed with the people who don't really care about Thor as a character. The costume doesn't look good either. I can't stand the weird scale looking sleeves. They'd have been better off going with just actually chain mail if they wanted a metallic look. As it is, he looks like a Flash Gordon character. Horrible costume design.

It is one of the most difficult things, translating super hero costume design to the big screen.

 

To be fair, Thor's costume really isn't all that in the comics either :)

Entertainment Tonight had a short behind-the-scenes featurette and (short) interviews with Kenneth Branagh, Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth. There's footage of Anthony Hopkins (great eye-patch) and Chris Hemsworth in costume (although a lot more of him in jeans and t-shirt), as well as a brief glimpse of an Agardian set.

Here's a shot of Thor in the Hall of Asgard being banished to Earth by the order of Odin. On the left, you can see the first shot of Loki wearing his famous helmet. I must say, in regards to scale (at least for this scene), Branagh has got it spot on.

Here we have Thor finding Mjolnir in New Mexico. After the credits in Iron Man II, S.H.I.E.L.D. find the hammer, but are unable to remove it, so build a security base around it instead. Thor himself has been cast down to Earth powerless and made to live amongst us a Donald Blake, but, I assume, this is the moment Blake finds his destiny and the Norse god gets back to full capacity.

Here's a shot of the display on show at Comic-Con featuring the helmets of Thor, Odin and Loki. I think they look great.

Well, yeah he's buff. He's some sort of construction worker right? For the most part they come in two varieties. Buff white guys and scrawny illegal Mexicans.
