I'm really, really enjoying the amount of semi-obscure guys they're putting in the game. It'll be fun to see so many characters uninfluenced by any of the films.

I imagine Joker will appear at the very, very end of Origins, possibly even a post-credit sequence heralding his arrival in town.
OK, it seems Joker will have a larger presence in the game than this as Troy Baker (voice of Ezio and the main guy from Bioshock 3) will be voicing him in the game.

IGN are also reporting that Bane (this time more in line with the original comic-book incarnation) will be in game also.

EDIT - According to GameInformer, this is a picture of Joker in the new game -:

2nd Edit - There is another IGN video up that shows a "standee" of the game for promotional purposes.

The artwork on this stand has Joker, Bane, Killer Croc and Scarecrow on it in addition to those already mentioned.

I was thinking about this game earlier and how prequels always suffer because they can't have anything equipment-wise more advanced that the games set at a later date or indeed shouldn't have any equipment that is better than the stuff in the games set at a later date.

With this game, that won't matter due to them being set in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. In both of those games, Batman is stuck in an isolated location with limited access to the Batcave, Batmobile, Bat-equipment, etc. This means that him not having access to, for example, the Tether Claw can be logically explained.

Anyway, enough of that... here are some more pics -:

You did see Bane, but he's not sans mask.

Yeah, I can see he does now, I thought it was face paint. He's much smaller than he is in the other games though. Maybe he still had Titan under control back then.

I suppose you could also look at it as Bane was using Venom originally, but was then experimented on in Arkham Asylum (the first game), so it's possible the first game was also the first time he'd really been that large.

Of course, Batman not seeming fazed about Bane being so big does suggest this is not the case, but then Batman doesn't seem fazed about much, so I'll happily stick to that theory.

Does Arkham Asylum ever explain where Titan comes from and how it got into the Asylum? I don't remember that part of the storyline.

The Joker tricked Dr. Penelope Young into developing it at the Asylum (she hoped it would help the patients withstand some of the more extreme methods of treatment; he wanted an army of Banes) in the hopes of improving the Venom formula; the main aim being to remove the need for the tubes and continual injection of Venom.

It's possible Bane was used to test the early batches of Titan as he was used to it, but the stronger formula made him more musclebound, thus his AA / AC incarnations.

While this game comes out in what October?

I'm contemplating not playing it until Christmas eve, pretty much staying in all night and playing Arkham Origins until the early hours of Christmas day with just a Christmas tree for company. it's almost how the game was designed to be played.
