Bah, I'm way behind on New 52's because I refuse to buy anything other than trade paperbacks, so I have to wait like a year longer, minimum, compared to everyone else. No single issues, no hardbacks.

What I'm waiting on now is the reveal of what Killer Croc, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Kurse from Thor 2 and Simon in Oz), is going to look like.
Just leaked;

And now we know...

We have (l-r) Adam Beach (Slipknot), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Karen Fukuhara (Katana), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Will Smith (Deadshot), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc) and Jay Hernandez (El Diablo).

Notable by their absence are Amanda Waller and Joker, mainly because they aren't actually part of the Squad.

A shot of Killer Croc showing the costume from the waist-up is doing the rounds, although it should be said it'll most likely look better in the film (and in motion) due to the better lighting and possible CG enhancements.

Also, pictures of The Joker on set confirms the tattoos are legit part of the look for the movie, as are the metal teeth.

The Joker pics do give of an updated The Dark Knight Returns feel.

Hair is a bit too neon, apart from that he looks kinda like what I'd expect a weird, psychotic murderous man-clown to look like.

The tattoos are still one of the worst major artistic decisions I've seen in a film in quite a long time, but I do like the face in those pictures, there's something genuinely horrible and nightmarish and actually vaguely Holocaust-corpse-y about it.

I hope the don't CGI-up Killer Kroc, mainly because CGI characters have looked particularly shit recently (how The Hobbit ended up looking a thousand times worse than The Lord of the Rings, despite the decade long gap, I have no idea), but I also like the grunginess of it. He just looks raw and painful and uncomfortable and deformed, like those people who look like they're growing into trees, or that kid with the big head from Mask.

Over all, two thumbs up, one thumb down, which is certainly better than my previous opinion.

I think Cracked got it pretty much right

http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-expensive-films-end-up-with-crappy-special-effects/

A headline summary for TLDR, or the link averse (with a brief addition to expand slightly on the headline :

Lack Of Visual Restraint Makes Gravity Act Like A Cartoon (and we can tell)

Color Grading Makes Everything Look Like A Fantasy (or washed out and crappy)

CGI Was Originally Used As A Last Resort (now it's almost literally everywhere in movies)

Most Films Forget That A Camera Needs To Physically Exist (which breaks our immersion when they behave like they don't)

Modern Movies Forget We Can Tell When Something Looks Fake (even when the cgi is great, if the slightest thing is off, we notice it)

Big Effects Sequences Are Supposed To Be Treated With Awe (and now they're a dime a dozen, happen every 5 minutes)

Yeah, I thought that article was pretty spot on, plus, Lords of the Rings was a project of love that Peter Jackson was obsessed with, The Hobbit was a cash in he made because no one else wanted to do it. When you care how your movie looks, you're more willing to actually do stuff, and not sit around in a green box in Vancouver all day hoping the nerds back in California do a good job for you and didn't notice how much you lowballed their fee by. That's the level of difference someone giving a fuck about their movie can make. See also; Lucas Arts.

Looks great. Joker looks exactly like he does in Batman RIP graphic novel, without the tats/teeth.

Having rewatched the trailer again, I've only just noticed that there's a scene that appears to show a fully-formed Joker (tattoos and all) restraining / torturing a pre-transformation Enchantress (or possibly a pre-crazy Harleen Quinzel).

My mate Dudley wrote this of FB regarding the trailer: 'Theory: all the joker bits are corrupted memories of Harley, (because of the tattoos and car (and batman)) the 'torture' bit is her, and the cage bit at the beginning is her metamorphosis into Harley.'

Not something I'd have thought of but quite an interesting take on it.
