In this interview with Hayley Atwell (she's going to play Peggy in the movie), she talks about having met with most of the cast, but not Tommy Lee Jones. AICN have heard rumours that he's in line to play General Chester Phillips, the man responsible for bringing Steve Rogers into the SuperSoldier program.

JoBlo has been on the set and he managed to get a good look at the costume. Unfortunately, but not suprisingly, even though he was given access, Marvel and friends have forbidden him (or anyone else) from taking/posting any pictures of what they viewed, but he did describe it on his website.

Steve Rogers will wear a suit that has “a practical WWII military look to it with some of the obvious Captain America flourishes”.

 

He will reportedly initially wear a costume inspired by the original comics, but then jump into a more combat-ready appendage once he enters active duty.

 

"It's hard to really pass judgement on a costume until you see it properly lit, in motion and doing what it's meant to do,” JoBlo note. “But based on what I saw, I'm pretty impressed with how they were able to adapt the costume for the film."

 

The final costume is said to consist of a white base with two red utility belts adding stripes, and a traditional army helmet with an A on the forehead. The shield (already briefly glimpsed in Iron Man 2) is also said to stay true to the original design.

After the description was posted on the JoBlo site, readers of said blog got to work and submitted artistic renderings of what, based on the description, the main costume would look like. JoBlo posted the two pics below onto the site as he said that, between them, they're almost 100% accurate (only issue is that Cap's ears are covered in the suit he saw on set).

 

From the first picture, JoBlo said that the helmet is 99% accurate (the ears thing) and that the second picture could have came from the set itself.

that outfit does look about as awesome as it can do for a live action film, seems like they've taken some of the design from the Ultimate cap, as he looked more like a soldier with some of the Cap touches.

 

Small piece of pedantry though, the original shield was actually more of a diamond shape. I believe he got the circular one after he was unfrozen. I loved the fact that the mark I armour was included in Iron man, so I'm hoping that they keep this little touch in the Cap films. We've already seen the circular shield in the two Iron Man films, so I'm hoping that he starts out with the original one, then gets given the circular one by Stark.

It's been a bit quite on the Captain America front recently, by Entertainment Weekly has the titular hero on the cover and a raft of shots inside the magazine, including the first look at Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull.

I'm getting really excited about this film. All the pictures I've seen are looking fantastic.

from that on-set shot he looks like he's wearing a really bad muscle suit, I don't know why. I think they've got it about as good as it'll look, to say he's dressed in bright colours in the middle of a war zone.

I like the body armour vibe of the suit. They couldn't do the armoured scales frOm the comic, so this works for me. The wings as detailing painted onto the helmet are a nifty little touch.

Word is that the soldiers behind Cap are HYDRA, who are put together by Red Skull in the movie.

I'm actually getting quite excited about this movie, never been a collector of Cap's comics, but I know the background and, as usual, it's great narrative from Marvel. So I like how the suit's shaped up and I love that poster!

 

Yeah, will be off to the cinema to watch this :)
