Brock Lesnar is set to face former world champ Frank Mir at UFC 81 in Feburary. Mir has never been the same since his motorbike accident a few years back but this is still an extremely risky fight for Brock. Dana is risking having Brock exposed in his very first fight on the contrary if Brock wins Mir is a good name for anyones resume.

judging by how bad Mir looked last time I saw him I don't see much risk at all. That said, if we get the good Mir it's a different story but I really don't expect that to happen. If Brock uses his strengths Mir should start gassing after about 30 seconds and it'll be an easy win.

Dana's already proven that he has no quarms about exposing some of the big names in favour of putting out great, exciting fights, as most of the Pride guys that have come over have already looked like numpty's having their asses handed to them and losing major credibility.

Brock will destroy Mir, but not easily.

This will be interesting because we all know Mir isnt min soo kim.

This'll be tough and close i feel for brock.

It's the old "name value" situation. Similar to when Lewis defeated Mike Tyson, all people will remember is that Lewis beat Tyson, not that Lewis defeated a sub-par past his prime Mike Tyson.
Sub par Tyson was still better than most heavyweights of the time in fairness, so it was still an impressive victory, just not as impressive as it would have been a few years before.

I'm really looking forward to the entire show, this fight in particular. I'm hoping for a Lesnar win, but you never know. Should be good.
When will it be on Bravo?
Can we have a vBookie thread for this, please?
I'm hoping for a Lesnar loss, anything to get him back in WWE so there is somebody there I give a sh*t about watching main event.

As for the fight, if it goes futher than the first round than i'm going with Lesnar for sure.

If the fight finishes in the first then i'm not so sure.

Looking forward to it :)

stan james have brock as 10/17 odds on to win.
Holy crap that five round work out was insane

Some notes from DYNAMITE DAVE at the Observer:

--It's been reported that WWE has purchased 30 ringside tickets for tonight's show. I haven't heard that other than someone from UFC telling me that a bunch of WWE guys are going, but it's also could be confused with TNA guys. We do know Kurt Angle, Jeremy Borash and magician Cris Angel are sitting together at ringside and Mike Tenay from TNA is also attending. We haven't heard any WWE names attending although some big names were talking of attending and are instead watching at home on PPV.

--Randy Couture's picks are Sylvia via third round knockout and Mir via second round submission. His other picks are Almeida, Marquardt and Griffin. I don't know about Sylvia via knockout being that nobody has ever stopped Nogueira. Anything can happen in Mir vs. Lesnar, other than Lesnar isn't winning via armbar or a triangle from the bottom.

--However, Nogueira and Lesnar remain the favorites in every sports book in town. Betting in the last day has come down stronger on Lesnar since the weigh-in.

This'll be the first MMA match I'm interested in/I will watch since Shamrock/Ortiz 3.

Also, I may be the only person who thinks this, but wouldn't it be awesome if Kurt Angle did a run-in?
