The first thing you'll notice is that SVR 09's Inferno Match takes advantage of the fact that it's a videogame. Rather than have some lame metal halo around the ring that actually houses the flames, the actual ring-rope sides of the ring are on fire. You pull off body slams and other moves, and, as the bodies impact, the flames shoot up.

isn't it a sport sim game? shouldn't it mirror the real life sports? it looks good but not realistic

Ok. NOW im excited....frankly, i dont mind if they use "exaggerated realism" in the inferno match, if its as cool as it sounds, and indeed, looks. Its a game after all.

Breaking the abilities up seems like it's going to amplify the individuality that Fighting Styles introduced. During my demo, THQ talked about trying to make this game feel more like WWE programming than ever before and the Fighting Abilities are a big part of that. For example, when was the last time you saw a match end in a simple Boston Crab or arm-bar submission hold? If a wrestler puts someone into a hold that isn't his or her finisher in real life, it's not likely the opponent is going to tap. For years, that hasn't been the case in SVR. If you wore the legs of Shawn Michaels down, he'd tap to the simplest of leg holds.

That's not going to happen anymore.

If you don't have the Submission Specialist ability, you can't make someone submit to a plain old hold. Now, don't get me wrong -- John Cena's no Submission Specialist but his STFU will make people submit because it's a Finisher/Signature move. That fact is universal, but nobody's submitting to a figure four unless it's a Finisher/Signature or the person pulling the move off is a Submission Specialist.

I am liking this alot!

It seems very promising but promising is a word used every year.

I hope to buy a PS3 to let my self get sucked into game, I just hope it lives up to the article above.

I do like the "resilience" idea. It would be great to have to work harder to take down Triple H than you would to take down a jobber. I really hope THQ pay more attention to fixing the actual gameplay and main roster - rather than just focussing on Divas and gimmicks like usual.

From the sounds of it with this TNA game, they just might have some competition finally.

Could the cover of SD vs R propose that DX are going to get back together in a future storyline?

I highly doubt it.I just think it's a case of the new game having an emphasis on tag team wrestling and in the WWE eyes no tag team is bigger then DX.Which is understandable considering it would have to be current roster members.

'Missions' LOL

I think in GM mode you should be able to simulate matches whilst still deciding the outcome instead of having to play each match to get the result you want, say choosing who wins and by what method.

As good as this game sounds I think they should put a column on the internet so the fans can put in ideas for what they want in the game and the ones that are really great awesome ideas they should add it into the game. After all it is the fans who buy the product. And that is how they get their salaries. Also the TNA game sounds awesome too. I think I might buy both this year depending on the reviews and comments.

I'm getting the Impact game for free. I expect it to be utter sh*t (looks it so far, from the gameplay), but who can complain when you don't have to pay?

not sure where you got that from as it has been reported to be very good and actually competition for SVR, the gameplay is more simple than SVR2008 less button bashing

From what I have seen of the 2 games TNA's has by far the better graphics, not seen anything of the gameplay though so couldn't comment on that

I've just saw the E3 footage of it running and i will admit i like the look of the inferno match however the one thing i am really worried about is how the actual game is going to play.

However 60 wrestlers and downloadable content does sound cool though, so i think i am going to rent it and then if its any good buy it
